The Hive Mind: comparing LTX to Light Strike

A new blog popped up recently relating to Laser Tag, run by an author going by the name of Skurj. There haven't been too many posts just yet, but they've all been quality and quantity. The latest post, I think will be of great interest to those in to the laser tag side of things. Skurj has written an extremely in-depth comparison between the popular LTTO/LTX laser tag system which is very popular among laser tag enthusiasts, and the newer Light Strike system. Light Strike has not received many great reviews so far but as far as a comparison goes, this post is a must read.

Ubisoft Battle Tag

Ok, I'm very slow with this, but I'm hardly ever in tune with the whole laser tag side of things. I don't know why, it seems like a ton of fun.

Anyway, Ubisoft Battle Tag. It's a new system for laser tag games, that involves ammo, med kits, respawn points and health. You might say some of thes things have been implemented before, but from what i can gather, the med kits and ammo kits are separate units that you pick up, and "tag" under your laser tagger to reload. And, from what I gather, game stats can be recorded to a computer via some sort of a radio transmitter device called UbiConnect.

Stats wise, they claim ranges of 300m, or about 990 feet. Both Nerf AND paintball players would melt at the thought of getting that sort of distance out of their blasters or markers, and laser tag I can imagine being a whole lot more accurate than foam darts or paintballs. In fact, I kind of use Nerf as training for paintball, because the darts are SO inaccurate. I don't think they are releasing anything other than the pistol type laser tagger (or T-blaster, as they call it), so it might be hard to get steady shot.

Blog: Tactical Tag

Normally, it's unusual for me to find another blog that is based on laser tag, let alone find one with really interesting stuff in it to do with laser tag. But on my searching today, particularly on the Urban Taggers blog, that's what I found. This looks like a relatively new blog, called Tactical Tag, run by someone that goes by the name of Bazookafied. It's a blog mostly about laser tag and Nerf, including mods. One in particular involves turning a Nerf Stampede into a laser tag gun, which I think is pretty damn cool and I might try this one myself if I can get a hold of some laser tag guns over here. Anyway, I'm adding this one to my following list, and I encourage you to check out this blog.
